Away day ...

On a day when there was hardly a cloud to be seen across the UK your intrepid library staff left their sunny (and often too hot) library for a long planned Away Day.

Where were we going...perhaps the park, the seaside or an airy room set in a delightful garden?  Sadly no ...our destination was a windowless room in the depths of the medical school.

So why an Away Day?

Like many groups and organisations we find it useful to escape the work environment once every couple of years to review our services, plan for the future and have time to discuss decisions with all 3 of us there at the same time. We were pleased to have additional input from both the Knowledge Services Manager for NHS Yorkshire & the Humber and the Director of Human Resources & Organisational Development at Sheffield Children’s NHS FT

We looked at the actions we had planned 2 years ago and it was good to see most had been achieved – we now have e-prompt  (our current awareness service) up and running, our website has been revamped and integrated into that of the Trust and we have extended our clinical support role.

We spent some time studying the results of our recent Library Survey where we asked you what you thought of our services and developments you would like to see in the future. Full results will be in a later blog but it is great to see that from our 254 respondents 92% told us they were happy with the library.

Thank you for taking the trouble to tell us your views – the winner of the book token will be announced shortly.
