Things in the library 1st Aug

Things back in the library..me
Nice B & B location! ©Gill Kaye 2014
..after a lovely holiday in Kefalonia I was straight off to a 2 day conference of Health Librarians in Oxford. There were over 200 delegates from all health sectors: NHS trusts, Primary Care, Professional bodies, Charities, Universities etc. A fantastic if hectic 2 days with lots of good ideas for future service development - a couple of quotes that have stuck with me that summarise for me why our role as librarians is important
[healthcare staff need to spend] "less time finding info & knowledge and more time using it"
"Getting information off the internet is like taking a drink from a fire hydrant" [you will be swamped]

Things published
NICE have published quality standard guideline on 'Feverish illness in children under 5 years' read it here
Public Health England have published their Annual flu programme information: training slides and publicity matierial available here
