NICE is developing a new tool to help health and social care organisations audit the improvements they are making to their services. It is part of a redesign of the audit support NICE provides.
"We have changed our approach to audit support to focus on NICE quality standards, as the statements they contain are designed to drive measurable service improvements," said Sally Chisholm, NICE’s programme director for adoption and impact.
The package of support is in its final stages of development and the first tool will be available this summer. See the news article here
Things for Health Care Assistants
First Steps for HCAs has been developed as a programme for self-directed learning. It maps to a range of National Occupational Standards that can be printed off in the form of an assessment checklist that could form the basis of a portfolio of learning. Find the competency checklist, assessment quiz and reflective diary here.
Challenging things
In a challenge to the new Government, the RCPCH sets out what it believes needs to be done in the first 100 days to ensure the UK delivers high quality, effective child health services - and that child health is high on the political agenda.
The paper calls on the new Government to define a cross-departmental Child Health Strategy, agree measurable targets to evaluate progress, and appoint a Children’s Minister to coordinate and direct integration across health, education, and social care.
